Here at Thrapston Dental Centre, we care about your smile and will only extract a tooth when there is no other option, or when it’s the best possible treatment choice for your individual case.
When you visit one of our experienced dentists, we’ll sit down with you to help you decide on the best treatment for your needs. If together we decide that tooth extraction is the best option, we’ll talk you through the process.
TOOTH EXTRACTION AFTERCARE TIPS
We will give you plenty of aftercare advice once your treatment is complete and you’re relaxing in our comfortable environment, but here are our recommendations on how to take care of your gums when you’ve had a tooth removed:
- Avoid hot food for the first 24 hours, and refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol
- Avoid rinsing your mouth out for the first 24 hours, but when you do come to rinse, use warm saltwater (you’ll only need half a teaspoon of salt)
- Brush and floss your other teeth as you would normally
- If you experience any soreness, take over-the-counter painkillers to provide relief
If you’re still feeling pain a few days after your surgery, please come back to see us as soon as possible, so that we can soothe any soreness and help to speed up your recovery.
