What our clients say about us

“I have been going to see Mr Hayward for a number of years now and as a nervous patient have found him and the whole team excellent. Great service today during the lockdown. I called with a problem I was having, Mr Hayward called back within minutes and then sent a prescription to the pharmacy for me. ”

Dental Health Check Ups

Here at Thrapston Dental Centre we recommend patients attend regular check-ups, as this can enable our dentists to identify any potential problems at an early stage.

Keeping on top of your oral health can help to prevent problems from escalating, which means that you can not only save time and money, but you could also save yourself from unnecessary pain.

During your dental health check-up, your dentist will provide you with advice on how to care for your teeth and gums. This will help to ensure that your mouth stays healthy, and your teeth and gums stay fully functional for as long as possible. We also provide advice for children who may need a little assistance in developing their daily teeth cleaning routine, to help them to establish good mouth care practices for life.

As standard practice, the team at Thrapston Dental Centre will include a mouth cancer screening with every examination. Unfortunately, the number of people diagnosed with mouth cancer in the UK is on the increase, but our routine screenings could provide you with an early diagnosis which may potentially save your life.

If you are looking to book in for your routine check-up, our team would be happy to help. Simply contact our practice on 01832 731118 to arrange an appointment.

Nervous Patients

Adult or child, we understand that not everyone feels relaxed when visiting the dentist. So here at Thrapston Dental Centre we firmly believe that you are the most important person in the dental relationship and do our absolute best to make you feel comfortable.

We offer special care to our anxious patients by firstly making sure your experience to the dentist is a pleasant and enjoyable one. We will happily talk you to you on the phone to reassure you and help you get to the front door. We will take the time to understand your fear and to find out what will help. Sometimes patients like to know every detail, or you may just want to put your headphones in and listen to music. Either way, there will be a hand to hold if you need it and we will go at your pace. You are always in control and we can stop at any point.

Don’t let your fear of the dentist stop you from looking after your teeth

Preventive Dentistry

At Thrapston Dental Centre our aim is to prevent the two major causes of tooth loss – decay and gum disease. Preventive dentistry helps you care for your teeth and gums so that they remain healthy. A good preventive routine keeps gum disease, cavities, enamel wear, and other dental problems at bay.

Regular Dental Hygiene Appointments

Prevention is an extremely important part of your dental treatment, as good oral hygiene will reduce the need for dental treatment in the future. Here at Thrapston Dental Centre we have therefore heavily invested in this aspect of your care.

Regular maintenance of your teeth and gums can help prevent dental decay and gum disease, resulting in less dentistry in the future and retaining teeth for life. For all new patients, a gum assessment is carried out to gather the required information. The gum disease process is now well understood, so dental treatments are available for patients with current gum disease, or who have had the disease historically. By using the very latest techniques, the team at Thrapston Dental Centre ensure that your gum health is well cared for.

We take great care in the maintenance of our patient’s gum health as undiagnosed or untreated gum disease may lead to tooth loss.

Children benefit from dental hygiene visits as oral hygiene instructions are given and disclosing tablets may be used to highlight areas missed during brushing!

  • Fissure Sealants: Fissure sealants are white, plastic coatings that are painted onto the biting surface of the back teeth. These biting surfaces are crisscrossed with tiny pits and fissures, which provide a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. To prevent cavities in these pits and fissures you can cover them with a special composite varnish called fissure sealant, which has been shown to achieve a six‐fold reduction in caries development (compared to a tooth without fissure sealants). The application of these fissure sealants are a simple procedure and children are comfortable with the procedure and the benefits are amazing.
  • Mouth Cancer Screening: Studies show that mouth cancer is on the increase and that early detection dramatically improves the chances of recovery. The screening involves a thorough examination of your whole mouth during routine dental health examinations and hygienist visits.

Sports Mouthguards

A gum shield (or mouth guard) is a protective appliance or device that is used to cover the teeth and gums.

They are commonly worn by sports athletes to protect our teeth & gums from knocks and impacts. It also helps to absorb shocks between the upper and lower teeth, reducing the risk of a concussion.

If you are a representative for a school or sports team, speak to one of our team at Thrapston Dental Centre about creating special mouthguards with your logo and colours.

Our affordable appliances help to prevent snoring and let you & your partner enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. Snoring is a very common issue throughout the UK. When we sleep, the airway at the back throat can become constricted.

Our airways can become constricted for several reasons. Typically, this happens when we sleep at an awkward position, causing the soft tissue and muscles to close the airway up.This causes vibrations in the throat tissue as we breathe through our airway, creating a loud noise that we call snoring.

At Thrapston Dental Centre, we have different anti-snoring device available depending on your individual needs.

If you are interested in getting an anti-snoring mouthpiece to manage your snoring problems, please book a consultation with us on 01832 731118
